Why I’m Running
I am running because I believe Islamorada’s future deserves thoughtful, experienced leadership. My years of service have given me a valuable understanding of our Village’s history, the decisions that shaped us, and the lessons we can apply as we plan for the future.
Bringing people together brings knowledge, history, and different perspectives to the table. When making decisions for the Village, I do my homework, listen to others, consider the facts, and work to find common ground and what is best for Islamorada.
I believe the best decisions come from respecting our past, understanding where we are today, and working together to build a strong future for Islamorada. There is still important work to do, and I am ready to keep doing it.
Together we can make a difference.
Experience beyond government
As a local business owner, I have operated businesses in Islamorada for more than 30 years. I understand firsthand the challenges facing small businesses, employers, employees, and the tourism industry that supports our local economy. Doing business in the Keys requires navigating many challenges, from regulations and workforce issues to the realities of a seasonal tourism economy.
I also spent many years working in the corporate world, where I gained a different perspective on management, budgets, employees, and the challenges of running larger organizations. My service on community boards has given me another perspective on the needs of our community and the importance of working together to find practical solutions.
The character worth protecting
Island homes, working waterfronts, and our small-town spirit are what make Islamorada special. I believe in thoughtful planning that fits within our community’s capacity, protects our environment, and preserves the character that makes these islands home.
