Ensuring the future of the Islamorada we know and love
Water is the lifeblood of what makes Islamorada so special. Protecting it means preserving our way of life, our economy, and our future.
After more than 30 years living and working in the Florida Keys and serving our community, I know environmental stewardship is about more than promises. It is about making responsible decisions and doing the work we can accomplish locally.
As one of your Council members, I have supported water-quality monitoring, stormwater management, and investments in wastewater infrastructure, practical steps within our local control.
I believe environmental protection and responsible growth must go hand in hand. We must protect our natural resources while making thoughtful decisions about our future.
Our water and environment cross boundaries. I have advocated for partnerships with Monroe County, the State, and other entities, and I will continue, so we can accomplish more together.

Affordable and workforce housing
Affordable and workforce housing isn’t just something I talk about. It is something I have worked on for years.
I served five years on Islamorada’s Affordable Housing Committee and helped develop policies to keep deed-restricted housing affordable in perpetuity, rather than allowing it to become market-rate.
I was involved in the development and operation of Woods Corner’s 16 homeownership units and continue that work as Vice Chair of the Middle Keys Community Land Trust. I have also been involved in the WetNet project, creating 34 units.
As a Council member, I have worked to preserve BPAS allocations and helped develop a plan requiring expanded development to contribute toward the workforce housing needs it creates.
With 300 additional workforce-housing allocations from the State, we have an important opportunity to create more housing for the people who keep Islamorada working. We have the land and we have the units. Now we must act. I will take a positive, hands-on role in moving these allocations forward and getting the homes built.
The Village cannot solve the housing crisis alone, but we can make a difference by using the tools we have, protecting affordability, and putting our community first.

Protecting what makes our community special
Islamorada is changing. The future of Islamorada depends on how we manage development and redevelopment, and I will support protecting what makes our community special.
Islamorada has limited land, infrastructure, and environmental resources that must be protected, yet we also need a healthy, sustainable economy and community. Because Islamorada is essentially built out, it is even more important that Council members who understand this carefully manage the development and redevelopment opportunities that remain.
I believe in thoughtful planning, not development for development’s sake, but responsible development and redevelopment that fits within our community’s capacity and preserves our small-town character.
Our Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations are being updated to provide clear, fair, and predictable rules for residents, property owners, and businesses. I will carefully review this essential update so that it protects our community character while planning responsibly for the future.
We must address the lack of available BPAS allocations. I will see that the evaluation of our remaining buildable lots is completed and assist in finding practical solutions that are fair to property owners while protecting the community.
Responsible growth means finding the right balance: protecting our environment and community character while allowing Islamorada to remain economically healthy and sustainable.
